What's the difference between the Eisenhower Matrix and the Covey Matrix?

Same matrix, two names. Eisenhower came up with the urgent vs important distinction in a 1954 speech. Covey popularized it in 7 Habits and called it the 'Time Management Matrix.' Same four quadrants either way.

Which quadrant matters most?

Q2: Important, Not Urgent. Covey's whole argument was that Q2 is the only quadrant that produces long-term progress, and it dies first when urgency takes over. Protecting Q2 time is the entire point of using the matrix.

How is this different from a printable Eisenhower matrix template?

The four quadrants in 30 seconds

Why most Eisenhower templates fail

A printable Eisenhower matrix is a snapshot. You sort your tasks Monday morning, you feel organized, by Wednesday it is wrong. A Notion template has the same problem with extra steps.
